The government agency mandated to provide social security services to Filipinos working in the private sector is SSS, or Social Security System. It being a government office, the agency is often associated with long queues and whatnot. Like many other government agencies, having said reputation is not without reason. As someone who once served as HR practitioner dealing with statutory benefits, I know how tedious and patience-testing the experience of transacting at SSS can be. Thus, it is a great relief to me as a private employee to be able to transact with SSS via the online platform. Their website can be accessed through www.sss.gov.ph. For optimal user experience, the website runs best with Internet Explorer.

Now for those with no online access, the good news is you can do the same via the Text SSS facility.
Dubbed mabilis (fast), simple, and sigurado (sure), this SMS platform allows members to inquire and get information on SSS' basic services. By sending a message to 2600, a member may inquire about their contributions, loan balances, and benefits; and get replies real time. True to its claim, availing this service is rather quick and easy. Member may start off by registering. Upon successful registration, member will receive a system-generated 4-digit PIN code. Remember this PIN code as it will be used each time you send a message. Standard rates of 2 pesos apply if you are a SUN Cellular user and 2.50 pesos for Globe, Smart, and other networks.

Pay PAG-IBIG Housing Loan Via Metrobankdirect

A few days back, I went to PAG-IBIG Ayala Cebu Branch to submit the receipt of my realty tax payment for the years 2017 and 2018. While one can actually send the scanned receipt online, I opted to submit mine in person. Good thing I did so because then I learned about the following announcement: Apparently, effective July 2018, all housing loan borrowers are advised to pay their housing loans through different payment channels (as indicated in the announcement). Rather than wait for the July 1 start date, I thought I'd give paying via Metrobankdirect--Metrobank's online channel--a try. Actually, the reason I opened a Metrobank account was primarily for this purpose. However, I didn't use the account as I initially intended because paying over the counter gives my mother a chance to drop by Ayala Center. 5 Steps to Enroll Your Metrobank Account Online

Below is a quick run-through of how to enroll your Metrobank account online: The steps enumerated are from the perspective of those who have a Metrobank ATM savings account. Thus, the form in step no. 3 asks for details of your ATM Card number ( not your bank account ) and your PIN number---the same PIN number you key in when transacting with an ATM machine. Note that your ATM card only has sixteen (16) digits. The form will require you to input 19 digits. Thus, don't forget to add three zeroes after the card number to complete the 19-digit requirement. If you don't have an ATM account, but have a Metrobank credit card instead, you simply select Credit Card from the drop-down menu.
